WET is looking for a Sr. Optical Engineer to join our Product Development Engineering Team. This person will work as a part of an integrated product team to design and develop high-powered LED lighting used in the water entertainment industry.
Designs optical systems with specific characteristics to fit within specified physical limits of precision optical instruments, and display devices: Determines specifications for operations and makes adjustments to calibrate and obtain specified operational performance. Determines proper operation of optical system and makes adjustments to perfect system. Designs mounts for components to hold them in proper planes in relation to each other and instrument in which they will be used. Designs inspection instruments to test optical systems for defects, such as aberrations and deviations. May work with electrical and mechanical engineering staff to develop overall designs of optical system.
5+ years in designing and developing LED lighting for applications such as architectural lighting, stage lighting, photography, arena lighting, etc.
Ability to work with management and designers to assess produce vision and technical feasibility
Experience designing and developing highly efficient driver circuits for LED lights
Experience selecting DC power supplies and configuring lights to work from 5-30VDC with power outputs up to 600W
Knowledge of wireless communication protocols
Ability to select LEDs and color correct as needed
5+ years in doing design, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, assembly, and testing of your own design
Experience developing firmware for the command and control of LED lights
Experience working with DMX-512 control protocols
TracePRO, PSpice, Altium, Cadence, Matlab, LabVIEW, MS Office
Oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, integrating spheres, photometers, goniometers, common electronics test and evaluation equipment
BS Electrical, Electronics Engineering or a BA/BS in Physics with a concentration in optics
