Second Shift Machinist

We create the world’s biggest and most stunning water features, one example being the Fountains of Bellagio. We have many others, both large and small, but they are always unique and always created by conquering the next creative and technological challenges.

WET infuses life into communities. And by creating these interactive experiences they become anchor attractions all around the world. Our designs blend form, material, patterns and acoustics (just to name a few) and create spectacular places where people feel connected to not only each other but their surroundings as well.

Our team is built of more than 200 highly talented, dedicated, hard working and passionate-about-what-they-do people.

We have architects, product engineers, chemists, special effects designers, Academy Awards winners, physicists, landscape architects, graphic designers, programmers, inventors, animators, and choreographers just to name a few. It’s a pretty rich environment and well, if you like meeting interesting people who know a whole lot of stuff you never even thought about, this could be the place for you.

WET is a great environment for people who are team-oriented, who are problem solvers, and who do not give up until they have solved their problem. We allow a lot of autonomy and we are not structure snobs. If you aren’t hungry to learn and you don’t have a thirst for knowledge and process improvement, you won’t like it here. And with our project driven nature, flexibility is essential to success at WET.

To succeed at this, you need to:

  • Make a part from a complete drawing, or from a crude sketch coupled with verbal instructions from a design engineer
  • Analyze a part and suggest changes that will make it easier to machine or otherwise create in production
  • Confer with the design engineer to advise on changes to the part or parts that would make them easier to manufacture, and more reliable. In other words, this position is part machinist, part manufacturing engineer, part model maker, part tool and die maker, and part setup-and-order-of-operations expert
  • Determine when a part needs to be made with precision so that it mirrors a future production piece, and when it is more useful to the project to quickly pirate something together using found materials--even wood instead of steel--to get the part performing for the evaluation to be made
  • Be very, very comfortable in working with engineers and effectively listening to them, and as well advising them and making suggestions to them
  • Capable on both manual and CNC mills and lathes, welding, soldering, and other typical machine shop tools
  • While speed is a clear requirement, the  Machinist needs to be the best machinist at WET. This person needs to be more skilled in the machine shop than the best of our production machinists
  • Ability and willingness to help others learn to Machine parts

Skills needed:

  • Conventional and CNC Mills and Lathes
  • MasterCAM
  • Knee Table
  • Bed-Mills
