Role Overview
The Material Handler supports our fabrication and production operations by safely receiving, organizing, moving, and cutting materials used to build WET’s water features. This role is hands-on, detail-focused, and essential to keeping projects on schedule and the shop running smoothly.
We’re looking for a dependable professional who takes pride in doing things the right way, cares about safety and organization, and is ready to be a consistent, long-term contributor to the team.
What You’ll Do
Receive raw material deliveries, unload trucks, and place materials in their correct locations
Keep material yards and storage areas organized, safe, and clean
Set up and operate saws to cut metals and other materials according to specifications
Maintain proper cutting parameters (direction, tension, speed) to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient cuts
Organize and prioritize cutting orders to support production schedules
Monitor material levels and notify your supervisor when stock needs to be replenished
Minimize scrap through accurate measuring, layout, and cutting
Safely operate company trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks to move raw materials and finished parts
Perform basic equipment checks: start‑ups, shut‑downs, inspections, lubrication of critical points, and minor adjustments
Follow all safety procedures and company policies at all times
Support other shop and yard tasks as needed to help the team hit its targets
What You Bring
5+ years of experience driving company trucks and forklifts in a production, fabrication, or warehouse environment
3+ years of material handling experience using forklifts, company trucks, and pallet jacks
At least 1 year of experience operating saws for cutting metal or similar materials
Ability to:
Read blueprints and shop drawings
Use a tape measure and basic hand tools accurately
Clean driving record (Class C) suitable for operating company vehicles
Strong safety mindset and respect for procedures and equipment
Reliability, good judgment, and the ability to work with limited supervision once trained
Willingness to learn additional equipment and support other areas of the shop as needed
Physical & Additional Requirements
Current forklift certification or ability to obtain it through WET’s training (we can certify onsite)
Able to lift at least 50+ lbs on a regular basis
Able to stand and be on your feet for 8+ hours per day
Comfortable working in a fabrication/yard environment, including varying temperatures and weather conditions
Willing to work overtime and occasional weekends based on project needs
