The Lead Powder Coat Technician is primarily responsible for interacting with production and assembly teams, safely operate the powder coating machines and equipment, lead production staff by example and taking full responsibility for department.
Requirements:
- Work as a team and maintain professionalism at all levels in the organization
- Powder coat steel, aluminum and various other materials and parts according to instructions and training
- Safely and proficiently operate tools and equipment needed to powder coat frames including racking, paint booth, and all spray gun parts and accessories
- Final preparation of powder coat parts through cleaning, tape removal, thread protection, stripping coating off of rework parts and deburring as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and awareness of surroundings
- Follow direction, procedures, and instructions for all work assignments
- Support all quality, safety, and environmental programs
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance; report to work on time
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time
Knowledge and Skills Needed:
- 8+ years of Powder Coat application experience required
- 3+ years of successful team leading experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Proficiency in the English language (written and oral)
- Ability to read and understand work instructions and basic drawings
- Basic math skills
- 5+ year’s experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
- Powder coating / painting experience required
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing plant; exposure to elements such as noise, dust, cold, heat, and/or odor
- Overtime as assigned
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for 8 to 10+ hours
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 50+ pounds
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, twist, squat, grasp, and work with tools above shoulder level.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment for extended periods
