THE CORE OF THE POSITION
The ideal Field Service Technician candidate should have sound electro-mechanical experience, preferably having undertaken a formal apprenticeship and ideally a formal technical qualification program.
Travel requirements are 50%
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carrying out site visits around the US for our domestic clients. Must be okay with flying and have valid identification.
- Liaising with the customer upon arrival to site and before departure on a daily basis
- Minimizing disruption to the customer by carrying out the required work in a timely and effective manner
- Diagnosing and fixing equipment breakdown of company equipment
- Updating service records and information in an accurate and timely way
- Troubleshooting programmable logic controls (PLCs), power supplies, transformers, contractors, relays, variable frequency drives (VFD), fuses/circuit protections, ground fault circuit interruption, e-stop systems, and animation control system
- Identifying any sales opportunities whilst on customer sites
- Coordinating and supervising the removal of equipment from customer’s premises
- Logging any concerns, incidents and feedback from customers
- Perform system start-up, verify electrical terminations and interconnecting wiring between control panels, and ensure piping and instrumentation is installed correctly
- Test and adjust the feature systems to ensure proper operation and record all settings for future reference
- Adjust and repair the feature as required. This will include replacing or re-building WET proprietary devices, making setting adjustments on control system assemblies, changing scheduled events in the time clock, using computer programs to modify parameters, up-load new touch screen pages, make setting adjustments to transmitters and other components via a laptop computer, etc.
- Implementing modifications to existing products to meet internal or external customer needs
- Travel time is 50%+
- Perform client training
Minimum requirement:
- 3+ year’s electrical field service experience, particularly with switchboards and electrical power system control and protection
- Specific knowledge (hands-on commissioning or maintenance) of electrical power distribution, motor controls and VFD controls
- Must be fluent in the English language in both written and verbal forms
- Valid driving license
- Ability to work alone, unsupervised
- Read and understand construction drawings, including, architectural, electrical and mechanical prints
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience working within a technical role, ideally within the electrical / electronic field, mechanical or IT sector
- A passion for technology and the desire and ability to learn new systems
- Strong customer service skills
- Clear and confident communication skills
- Good time keeping and the ability to work to targets
- Installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of high voltage induction and synchronous motors Rotating Machinery
