Sr. Electrical Engineer - Embedded Firmware/ Hardware

We are in search of individuals who are passionate about robotics, motion, and the firmware that brings electronics to life. At WET, you won't merely be developing code that rests on a desk, you'll be collaborating with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts.

You will be creating custom PCBs with innovative approaches to tackle problems so unique, you might be the first to attempt them. You'll shepherd your creations from inception through the first power up, and eventually seeing your work fuse technology with art, building masterpieces that will mesmerize and enchant millions.

The Sr. Electrical Engineer is a functional expert in product development, production, and new material and component identification and creation. The role serves as the leader of all key strategic innovations initiatives and projects related to conceptual design, new material and technology development, prototype to production as well as the tools and systems that support development of product across the brand’s portfolio.

They control every aspect of product creation from initial sketches to production, and are driving the rapid growth of WET’s portfolio.

You will:
  • Engineer and design hardware (voltage regulators, digital logic, communication transceivers)
  • Rapid prototype and hardware bring up
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming design patterns
  • Experience structuring C code for manageability and reusability
  • Develop custom firmware in C for various control applications
  • Simulation tools such as LTSpice
  • Ability to direct technicians on the fabrication and testing of PCB’s and cable assemblies
  • Drive the company strategy in regards to Product & Device Innovation and Development
  • Track and report status of all NPI programs to senior management
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to all members of PD&E team
  • Set direction, aligns goals and objectives and inspires an innovative, high performing, and collaborative environment
  • Investigates new, innovative sources of production and technological advancements
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to Materials, Manufacturing, Production, Design, Quality, Assembly, and Field Services
Your have experience with:
  • PCB layout and schematic capture tools, preferably Altium
  • Low-level debugging tools (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.)
  • Writing firmware on bare metal (no operating system) as well as systems utilizing embedded RTOS
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Python)
  • Embedded design using resource limited microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M0+)
  • Development of test plans to including verification and validation
  • Development of functional testers and work instructions to support production
  • Unit testing framework (Ceedling, CUnit, CuTest, AceUnit)
  • Experience with low-level protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, RS-485)
  • Design analog front ends and circuitry to interface with precision instruments/sensors
  • Control theory design and motor control experience
  • EMI/RFI shielding, mitigation and filtering
You bring:
  • Master’s degree in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, or Automation Controls Engineering or related discipline and experience
  • Strong grasp of the laws of Physics and ability to push their boundaries
  • 15+ years of leadership experience, managing a team of engineers in a fast-paced and continually changing environment
  • End-to-end development on products of reasonable complexity
  • Familiarity with matrixed organizations, modern agile/lean engineering methods and modern philosophies of team building and retention
